How do you calm your self down.
It used to happen to me. Go in a small room from time to time (even a bathroom!) and take a breather. Make sure to keep yourself mobile–move around. Find a friendly person or two to "break the ice" and chat with. Leave early too if you can!

That is called an anxiety attack, and if that is happening to you, you probably need to go to the doctor and get some medication.

Yes i do. I have panic disorder/Anxiety disorder. And im sorta sociaphobe, but anyways. ITs not easy to calm yourself down. Id go to the bathroom or somewhere by yourself real quick and take some deep breaths. I always repeated to myself, ‘Im okay…im okay’. It helps me, but its different for everyone. I hope that helps.

A true panic attack is when adrenaline rushes into your blood stream. You feel like you are going to go crazy or die. It lasts 12 to 20 minutes, after which you feel wiped out.
Having social anxiety is different. Look up "social anxiety" in the DSM IV online. That may help you determine what it is. If you do have social anxiety, you can probably take a Dale Carnegie course and overcome it. It would be worth your while as what you learn there lasts forever.

No panic attacks, I used to in my early teens. I’m basically very shy, but I’m often placed in a position of having to mix socially with large groups of people who are important to my career. So I have adapted.
Being so shy it was hard at first, then I decided to "Pretend"
I was confident (but not arrogant). Much to my surprise people believed me! And the difference in how I was accepted was amazing. This of course built my confidence, and allayed my shyness to an extent.
Even so, I am still that shy girl walking into an opening or other event these days, but being greeted by the people who believe my "act" makes me feel confident again in no time.
Hope this makes sense.
If you want to become something, you have to pretend you are already it.
