what is the best treatment for panic disorder (anxiety attacks, panic attacks) ?.?

who has successfully overcome this condition ?.and using what method.please serious answers only.thanks

I have been using an alternative therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique and it has really worked for me and helped me a lot. I had anxiety depression but now I only have mild anxiety and depression and I have been feeling a lot better. It’s very good at getting rid of all kinds of negative emotions and dealing with all kinds of issues quickly. It does sound crazy but does work. These are some links about it.

Just take a deep breath, then relax before acting out fast.

I use to have it in my teen years and early 20′s , seemed to out grow it. I did use Prozac and that helped tremendously. I don’t have them any more and haven’t for a long time.

To realise that what you are panicking about is trivial and with common sense you can develop a coping mechanism. Rise above it, remain postive and don’t let the stress rule you.

Cymbalta works well at first your Dr. may prescribe Xanax or Ativan to help get them under control, but both of the last two can be addictive if not monitored closely by the Dr., also they have group sessions you can attend where you can share your expereinces with those who suffer as you do, Panic attacks are very frightening and scary for those who have them but with the correct medical help they can be controlled..

Talk therapy works best. NOMALLY there is something triggering the anxiety..even though you have no idea. (If you did you’d be fixing the problem so you wouldn’t have it anymore.)

Most of the time the antianxiety drugs such as zanax make you almost zombie like….of course you can’t have an anxety problem if you don’t know what’s going on or don’t care about anything anymore or sleep all the time. That’s not possible. You have to get to the root of the problem. Not just mask it with pills. Pills are a great supliment and help…but therapy does the most.

Used to have anxiety attacks about once a week….haven’t had one in at least 3 years.

i am currently on 5mg of diazipam 4 times a day,and i also have talking therapy. mine are that severe that i cannot leave the house unless someone is with me. my heart go’s out to you as i know how scary the panic attacks are. i also take 22mg of mirtazipine a night, which is an anti depressant and a sedative. if you don’t want to go the medical route, you could go to a Chinese herbalist. unfortunately for me their remedy’s didn’t work, but everyone’s body is different hunny. i think it didn’t work on me because i have so many illness’s that require prescription only treatment. i am still fighting and working hard to beat the depression and panic attacks hunny. but the diazipam has helped me a heck of a lot. i hope things start to work out for you very soon. take care. warm regards xxxx

I am so so sorry you are going thru this. I have suffered for many years from depression BUT after a particularly bad couple of years, (bereavement, illnesses in the family); I suddenly started having panic attacks.

The symptoms were sweating, shaking, palpitations, pins and needles and hardly able to leave the house.

My doc put me on 3 diazapan a day (5 mg) and 2 prozac a day for a month. This helped SO MUCH especially the diazapan. I am now on 1 diazapan and 1 prozac and am feeling much better. I really would recommend the diazapan (valium) but only on a short term basis cos they can be very addictive.

Please also see a Counsellor (I see one thru my local Medical Practice). Maybe you could do the same? This helps, being able to talk to someone who is Neutral ie. not a friend of family member,

I know I have serious worries which started my panic attacks. Think very carefully if there is something deep inside you which is bringing these attacks on.

I also found meditation and deep breathing exercises very good. You can find these techniques on the Internet.

Eat a good, balanced diet and try adding a good quality B vitamin supplement (this is very healing for nervous/panic conditions).

I do hope you feel better soon. I know how awful these attacks are and I will be thinking of you.

This is more common than you think. First step to concur it is to go & see your GP to discuss it. They may be able to give you some medication to relieve the symptoms in the short term, some counselling will also help to identify triggers of attacks & how to manage them – the key to this is breathing techniques.
With the right help you can overcome this problem.

medication might be the best one, but definitely not good for long term treatment. if you get really bad panic attacks, lexotan or xanax might really help a great deal, but the best treatment for me is to either lie on my bed and stroke my dog, or watch TV which can be distracting, or listening to someone talk while you breathe in and out slowly. meditating and yoga helps in treating phobias as well.
