panic/anxiety attacks, are they bad for pregnancy??
ok im 14weeks pregnant and im just wondering are panic attacks really bad for my unborn child?? since finding out i was pregnant i havnt got any(thank god!) but yesterday i could feel one coming on and i managed to talk myself out of it. iv been having them for the past 5years i know its mainly because im an anxious nervous person. but i can now talk myself out of having them most of the time. but there are times when i just cant and they are so bad and last for hours with me shaking or screaming on the floor and im worried that if it does happen il hurt my baby. any advice?? thanks
I started having panic attacks almost 10 years ago. The Doc’s gave me different meds to try to "fix" this problem. They sent me to a shrink and a counselor. They put me on Effexor- the worst thing I’ve ever allowed to be done to me. (please read what other people are saying about this SSRI via the link below). They were all just band-aids for the problem. I will never take another SSRI as long as I live!! I spent hundreds of dollars on the Lucinda Basset tapes for panic attacks- did nothing for me- did tons of research and finally met a doctor who had a brain!!! She gave me a saliva test for adrenal fatigue. Turns out panic attacks are caused by certain deficiencies in the body such as low Epinephrine, high Cortisol, Doapamine, Serotonin. Tell your doctor to order this test for you. It is the only real way to find out what’s actually wrong so that they can fix it. I swear I think doctors must be taking kick backs from the drug companies so they just keep us medicated instead of trying to fix the real problem and help us.
Test info:
"Neuro Adrenal 1 Profile" test from Neuro Science, Inc. 373 280th street, Osceola, WI 54020 Phone: 1-888-342-7272 www.neuroadrenalinc.com
The test consists of 3 small tubes for saliva collection and opne small vial for urine. You take the test from home and then mail back to the lab with the pre-paid postage. They send the results to your doctor, who then should give you a copy. If you are deficient in any of these areas, there are vitamins, minerals you can take to help your body normalize itself. Good luck!! DON’T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!! And help spread the word.

Having panic/anxiety attacks and stressing yourself out COULD cause you to miscarry

since they don’t happen very often it should be fine. But talk to your doctor just to make sure, he/she might want to put you on medicine to take when you have the attacks, not an everyday thing.
i also deal with the same thing and i have noticed that since i became pregnant i feel alot better and my anxiety and panic attacks have lessened alot. I am just hoping that they don’t come back after i have her. Before i was pregnant i was on xanax every day. and i havent taken it since my positive pregnancy test. I just deal with them when i do get them, which is not very often now.

Yes. The baby can sense them and become very angry or scared. I had them throughout the pregnancy because I was scared and nervous and I was put on hospital bed rest for a week which was terrible. Try to keep talking yourself out of it. And find a mothers support group in your area, they will help.

Some people say yes, some people say no … Either way, i wouldn’t worry about it. At 14 weeks your baby is growing nicely and really pretty secure.
The fear of having a panic attack could actually bring on more panic. Just be nice to yourself. You’re probably a really nice person. You’re having a baby. You’ll probably be a great mom even if you do have panick attacks from time to time. Things are good. It’s normal to worry about miscarriage and things that can harm the baby, but no matter what you and baby will probably be just fine. Even if you do have a few panick attacks, there’s nothing you can do about them so why torture yourself over what might happen? It’s much more likely that you’ll carry to term and have a healthy happy baby than anything else. For every disabled child out there, there are thousands of perfecly healthy ones – some of them are born under the worst of conditions and yet they turn out just fine :D

especially early in pregnancy, your baby’s nervous system is forming. the compounds that get released when you are anxious can set up the baby to be more anxious too later in life.
this is a great opportunity to get some help to get this under control. counselling, homeopathy, meds, meditation – get some help with this now. it will be worth it. newborns can be stressful, it will help to have some good tools in place to cope better. good luck!
