I have been told to try Bachs Rescue Remedy, I have been told it comes in various forms but one is a spray that you put on your tongue and it calms you down very quickly. Can be used on adults, children and animals! Totally safe.
I am going to give it a go – think you should too! Hope this helps x

I read somewhere that lavender oil is supposed to be good for calming maybe you could try this? I bought some from Boots to try on my son and it seems to calm him down.

A beta blocker would help you – ask your doctor for some propranolol.
Passiflora helps with anxiety.
Valerian is good
A combined magnesium/calcium supplement.
Vitamin B complex
Cut out ALL caffeine – even in tea – this helped me a lot
Please ask your doctor for the propranolol though – it’s an excellent drug and isn’t addictive.

There are absolutely NO herbs that will successfully treat this problem. You apparently are on too low a dose of the medication, or have not taken it properly, or have not taken it long enough for it to really begin to help.
It’s strange that you attribute light-headedness and drowsiness to anxiety – those are not symptoms of anxiety. I would strongly urge you to return to the prescribing physician for a re-evaluation. There well may be something else going on here. Good luck.

NIACINAMIDE!!!!!!
I was prescribed XANAX, but I didn’t want to get hooked. This stuff is a MIRACLE. It’s also really cheap. No side effects at all. It helped me so much. I needed 2 a day. 3 on stressful days. It works for daily anxiety. Rescue remedy is ok. Not that special. Made me sleepy…i think it was the brandy it’s kept in. Valerian can help some during an attack, but it will make you a bit sleepy. The Niacinamide is the best thing you can naturally do. Puritan’s Pride has good prices on it. 5htp for the depression.
Also, don’t let your blood sugar drop a lot. I’d get attacks if I wouldn’t eat as low blood sugar triggers adrenaline.

There are no vouchsafed (FDA approved) herbal remedies for treating anxiety. Kava is touted as the main one, but it is liver toxic. Pub Med sources for this are listed below.
You may try a lower dose of the lorazapam. The the more unpleasant side effects may be because of the particular antidepressant. Some, like Effexor, can cause jitteriness at first. Other drugs that act on norepinephrine receptors will do this, too. You may need to just try a different anti-depressant, or just stick to the lorazapam. It is normal to feel weak and kind of out of it when taking a benzodiazapene (lorazapam/ativan, clonazapam/klonopin, diazapam/valium, et al). It may also just take time to get a kind of tolerance for the drug.
Remember that herbs are drugs, but their active ingredients are untested in any real clinical fashion (most of the time; there are some exceptions like kava and st. john’s wort) for saftey or efficacy but also you don’t know how much of a dose of the active drug you are getting. It’s all chemicals anyway, and the ones that have a physiological effect are called drugs.
So do talk with your psychiatrist and let him or her know what is going on. Please do not take Kava because it is potentially harmful and its effects are so mild they are barely noticeable (from my own personal experience with anxiety and panic, I tried kava… it sucked and now I find out later it might’ve damaged my liver! How rude!).
Best wishes to you. I have to deal with anxiety and panic as well. Xanax works fairly well for me when things get too rough. I’m considering adjusting my dose of Celexa to see if that helps reduce the panic and anxiety attacks (w/ dr’s approval, of course).

One of my partners recently was out for a REALLY long time with major pregnancy complications. She made it to a few monthly meetings prior to giving birth, and one after. She didn’t bring her baby. I suppose she could have, and and long as she was discrete, I wouldn’t care if baby needed a meal. I don’t think the guys (we’re the only women in the group) would either. Of course, we meet in the hospital, and honestly, I’d keep any really little ones as far away as humanly possible.
