Okay my first question has to do with panic attacks. Anytime I drink like, a cappucino or an energy drink, I have a panic attack. Do I need to get treatment/medicine for this, or should I just let it go?
Second question. Sometimes I have this excessive excitement. Like I’ll look at my friend count on myspace, and picture it going up and up in my mind and i’ll put my fingers up by my mouth and twiddle them together and have an awkward breathing pattern. I also do this when I think about pulling a car into a driveway and the wheels turning and going up the bump, but it mostly happens with things with numbers, such as profile views, friend counts, text message counts, etc. I also do it when I play video games. I’ve been doing this ‘excessive excitement’ thing since I was like 4. I remember playing Mario Kart and doing it. I’ve never seen anyone else do it or have this kind of thing happen to them, and I’m wondering what it is.
well, i have an anxiety problem and i know that caffiene only triggers attacks, so stay away! you might want to find a therapist for that other part, im not sure…sorry im not more help. good luck.

I know someone that is being treated for panic attacks associated w/ an anxiety disorder.
Currently, they have been taking Zolfot for about 8 years. However, I have known this person for about 3 years. I have found that over the past 3 years, this person has changed significantly.
All of the issue they are having, happen to be side effects of Zolfot. This includes weight gain, drowsiness, a general lack of energy and interest and (from what I’ve heard) a lack of sexual desire.
I suggested this person stop taking the medication, but they are scared the panic attacks might start again.
I don’t blame them. However, is there anyway that a person can be treated w/ a different medication.
Also, is there anyway a person can receive treatment for anxiety disorders and panic attacks through working w/ a therapist?
Hi, sorry to hear your friend is getting panic attacks. If he/she want to eliminate panic attacks tell them to take the following steps.
1.Breathe properly. If you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.
2. Try Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: livinglifetothefull.com It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.
3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource…
Best of luck to you both.
I know it’s most common use is in the treatment of seizures, my dog is epileptic and I’ve done plenty of reading about it. That’s how I found out it is sometimes used as a sedative for insomnia, and some even considered it for anxiety. So I guess my real question is, if I take it when I’m having a panic attack, what are my risks of having a seizure? I know some medications reverse chemicals in the brain, meaning if I don’t have seizures now, will the pills reverse that? I hope this makes sense. I need answers QUICK, because my panic disorder is out of control!
its not used for panic attacks, if you take it it will make you feel calmer. no, it won’t give you seizures. go to the doctor. if you can take your dog to the vet, you can go to the doctor

I have been prescribed Xanax (alprazolam) for panic attacks and it has worked great for me.

Hey there
I am currently taking zoloft for anxiety, and I have come to realise that each person has different reactions to the drug.
The way it works, is that you should be able to over time gradually come off the dosage.
It is reccomended that you don’t just take zolof, but you get help at the same time so you can learn to manage the anxiety (something I have failed to do)
There are other medications out there, it’s just a case of talking to a doctor.
Finally, be there for him/her, and if you’re concerned, don’t keep it a secret!
Hope this helps

Hi
Yes it is possible to stop panic attacks and get effective and lasting treatment for panic and anxiety attacks, I and my colleagues worldwide have been helping people overcome these issues for many years.
The most effective treatment for anxiety attacks is, in my opinion and experience, a combination of approaches from the fields of NLP and hypnotherapy, or hypnosis.
Panic attacks are a self fulfilling prophesy, as are many issues, and it really does not matter, even slightly, how they begun. Sometimes someone has a virus which causes shortness of breath and other symptoms of a panic attack (that can sometimes seem like a heart attack to the victim), sometimes someone has a horrible experience which causes them to panic, and often people have no idea where the panic came from in the first place. Like I say, though, it really does not matter how they started.
What everyone who has learned to do panic attacks has in common is this. They worry about panic attacks, they are anxious about panicking, and it is this fear of the fear that sustains the problem in someone neurology. Its a loop, a vicious circle in the mind, a bit like watching a horrible TV program in your mind that you hate, but you cant seem to watch over and over again.
What we do fundamentally train the person to stop being anxious about having a panic attack, and with NLP and hypnosis, train and educate the mind so that you become calm and centred once more. And because we are not dealing with the origin of the problem, the work is often very quick, and usually very effective. Get back in control of your life again and contact us for help today.

I have suffered from o.c.d, panic attacks, anxiety and phobias for all of my adult life-I am 42.
It has been worse since I stopped smoking 9 months ago but I have dealt with that in a seperate question.
What are the best methods of treating these things? Which drugs/therapies/treatments are most successful. I have tried so many things-I am at the end of my tether!
I have OCD also. The thing that is helping me the most (i’ve gone through a huge change and improvement) is medication, therapy, and counseling. I take Zoloft, prescribed to me by a doctor. This helps both my depression and OCD. My counselor is helping me learn ways to fight off the thoughts in OCD, how to fight ‘Mr. Bad’ as I call my OCD. Give a name for your OCD, maybe someone you dislike. It’s what my counselor told me to do. It gives you a face to fight. Also, think of seeing a therapist or psychiatrist. Personally, I like my counselor better. Hope I helped, and good luck.
My friend was recommended for a 2 week DARPA (navy) intensive program, she gets panic attacks and refused the treatment because it would stress her out so much. What are the consequences of that?
It should read DAPA not darpa. She already has a doctors letter of reccomendation for discharge due to her panic attacks.
If these panic attacks interfere with her duties, she will be getting a discharge. Whether it’s medical, or disciplinary, will depend on her CO’s recommendation.
